Not too long ago, the kind and doting nanays of one Gawad Kalinga community would offer hot, casserole-brewed drinks wrung from native leaves like tanglad and pandan to some very thirsty volunteers and visitors. They shared stories of their own elders brewing the very same drink to keep them strong and ward off all sorts of diseases.
In that vast field of talahib, under the scorching sun (and perhaps through the whisper of an enkanto) — ridiculously healthy BAYANI BREW farm fresh teasan was born — inspired by Filipino heritage recipes made from organically grown local ingredients.
Naturally, some wide-eyed peeps (AKA the Brew Crew) were somehow cajoled into turning this idea into a sustainable startup social enterprise. The rest, as they say, is history.
